Carnarvon and Gascoyne Junction

Wednesday, August 6:
Stayed at Minalya Roadhouse – we were the first in but by 6pm the place was full – about 10 sites.

The new trend for Galaxy van covers - Hedland red.

Thursday, August 7 to Sunday, August 10:
At Wintersun CP Carnarvon. It was a chance to re-visit the place we stopped for a couple of weeks in 1982. Lots of new buildings;  lots of farms growing lots of different vegetables.
While there we drove to Gascoyne Junction 150kms east to see where the Gascogyne River joined with others – interesting drive. The town was destroyed by the 2010 flood but has been re-built with a great caravan park combined with the pub, general store and petrol station.
The Gascoyne River at Gascoyne Junction.

The final straight of the Junction Race Club's track at Gascoyne Junction.

Cattle enjoy a well-earned drink at one of the waterholes along the Gascoyne River which runs underground most of its length.

Had a swim in the pool.

Met up with Baz and Lyn (Viet Vet) again at the port so we had dinner at the Gascoyne Hotel with them.
