Our first camp out this trip

Monday, June 9:
Olivia’s birthday. Off early to Port Augusta for replenishing our supplies and fuel and after lunch in the nearby hotel it was off north along the Stuart Highway – a part we had not travelled before.
Our campfire is well and truly underway.
It wasn’t long before we were in the saltbush plains followed by rolling hills and stony hills where trees struggled to grow and survive. After studying Wiki Camp, we decided to stay at Maslin way side stop and did as suggested – turned off and drove 1km along the track to a gorgeous camp spot. The previous camper had kindly left some wood so with some time gathering our own we soon had a fire going. There’s nothing better than sitting around an open fire, drink in hand watching the casserole cooking in the camp oven. We finished with billy tea. As the wood was only small, it wasn’t long before it was time to turn in for the night.
We must do more of this.
